The challenge for this assignment was to learn something using computer assisted instructions (CAI).
My choice for this learning activity was to learn how to code basic HTML& CSS. I have to admit that up to this point I really did not have a clue of what this meant and it was a bit intimidating and very confusing at the start.
The reason I chose this topic is simple, I have for some time wanted to learn to code and be able to create my own web pages and content from scratch. Although there are many programs out there that can assist one in this task, I wanted the satisfaction of doing it all from the ground up. Another reason is that my son is a programmer at one of those hip start ups in Vancouver, and I thought it would be fun to understand what he does for a living. As well, of course, be able to have a discussion around some of the trends and challenges in his field.
The following pages will explain the way I went about learning to code, some of the steps of the learning processes and the different projects along the journey.
